Is the future of Mongolia bright? Do we protect nature well? Unfortunately, the answer is “No, not sure as far as now”.
Mongolia is one of the very few places on earth with wilderness and vastness yet barely dominated by heavy human population and pollution. Thanks to its nomadic culture ensuring the perfect balance of environmental protection and human lifestyle. Unfortunately, due to its rich natural resources, irresponsible mining has been booming in recent years and has destroyed some of the country’s vulnerable ecosystems and animal habitats.
On the other hand, Mongolia needs to build more wealth and foster an economy for sustainable development. In that case, the country needs to use its natural resources wisely before everything becomes too late. There is no limit to human greed as well as there is no way to stop them from digging. The good news is all the problems arising in the mining sector can be solved, and its impact on the environment can be minimized. It needs to form rigid legal bodies to control and monitor the mining companies, develop a proper management plan based on a scientific approach to distributing the sector’s income fairly and efficiently, and develop responsible mining and restoration of mined lands.
Moreover, we usually talk about the mining as a whole problem, but it’s “human” behind it. We need to educate people and encourage them to be environmentally friendly at their earliest age. Globally, we have one and only resources called “earth.” So that we, humans, must have one shared goal to protect it, love it, and sustain it. Everything is interdependent. It’s not only about one country. Whether it is big or small, everyone’s contribution is crucial for now to bring a sustainable future to the world.
